Exploring B.C.

Finishing a two year project

Finishing a two year project - ahhh the feeling is good. It seems there is always a little clean up to do and some last minute tweaks but the project is esentially a wrap.

This project has been a collaboration between Mountain Bike Tourism BC and Rocky Mountain Bikes. We have been shooting the six tourims regions of BC and trying to capture the distinct flavours that differentiate them. It's not until you get into the area, ride the trails and dig deep into the history do you really get to know this vast place we call home and everyone else call British Columbia. Truly we are blessed with a beautiful Province, but above that it is populated with epic trails, trail networks and  still the building continues.

Over the last two years I have ridden all six regions; Vancouver Island, Kootenay Rockies, Vancouver Coastal, Northern BC, Cariboo Chilcotins and the Thompson Okanagan. At this point you may say what's your favorite region and I'd have to stop, ponder just a minute and say - "all of them!" If you have time Smithers and Burns Lake in Northern BC are off the charts and wicked cool towns. Revelstoke offers some of the most accessible alpine, while the Sumas Valley just out my backdoor really took my breath away. And lets not forget the ever impressive Chilcotins, truly an adventure of epic proportions.

While on these trips we camped, fished, drove a lot (it's a big province) and shot a ton of videos and photos. But the real highlight were sharing the time with my teammates, shredding bits of trail repeatedly and living daily in harmony with our bikes, exploring new zones. I think in the end we were fortunate to have an excuse to tour our big backyard and share those moments with other local guides. Simply doing what comes most natural to mountain bikers - road trips to riding destinations and all day shreds at top speed - viva BC!
